Thankfully, this is not a frequent job you have to do. Instead, you simply need to do it on a regular basis for two to four times yearly. This is unless you are living in a place that is highly polluted with smog or dirt. If this is the case, it is recommended that you clean your aluminum security screen as often as possible.

High quality materials for Aluminum security screens

Aluminum security screens are made of high quality materials and require special attention. This is why it is better that you clean them the right way to prevent unwanted replacements.

The way you clean your screen doors will depend on the screen’s style and size, the specific material this is made from, which is aluminum in this case, as well the cleaning project’s intensity.

Cleaning your aluminum screen doors

To clean your aluminum screen doors, it is common and best practice that you unlock the screen to remove it and place it on a tarpaulin to get started.

  1. If your screen door is full of loose dirt and dust, use a dry soft bristle brush or handheld vacuum to remove most of the particles before you get the screen door wet. You should only use the smallest amount of pressure possible and stick with the lower setting in the vacuum so that your screen won’t get damaged because of high suction. Even though aluminum screen doors are tougher compared to regular screens, the metal might still bent and this can compromise its performance and integrity.
  2. Apply a mixture of mild detergent and warm water to the aluminum screen door using a gentle sponge, soft bristle brush, or microfiber cloth then scrub the screen door as gentle as you can. See to it that the water stays out of the lock to prevent damage. Dip the cleaning tool frequently in the water to avoid damages from dirt.
  3. After you scrubbed the entire screen, rinse or hose it off with clean water before the suds dry up. Use a towel to blot and remove any excess water and let the screen door dry while it stands up under the sun.
  4. Once the door has completely dried up, you can now reinstall your aluminum screen door. You can use graphite powder on locks that seem stiff to ensure that they continue to function well.

Proper maintenance of your aluminum screen doors is no doubt the easiest and simplest way to ensure  that your property not only stays safe and protected but also looks great all the time.
